They're both Damaged, although differently. Fringe has trichophagia, a disorder that compels her to eat her own hair and fur. So, she doesn't have the tuftless or hairless traits, she's just.. eaten most of the fur that she can reach >_>; Judging from her sunny disposition, she isn't too negatively affected by her disorder, but since it does appear as if she has some kind of parasite or skin disorder it may cause others to avoid her.
Sparkle has generalized anxiety disorder. He tends to worry excessively and irrationally about everything and can be prone to panic attacks when particularly stressed or worried. It's extremely difficult for him to socialize and it's a wonder he was able to speak to Fringe, let alone form a Song with her!
