A bunch of sharp-eyed folks saw the two semi-custom pet tokens that were on the Samanayr Stalk page! The tokens are going with Takaeji and Kuami - congrats :D

And all of the events are indeed over! We've been entertaining Mr Sushi's mom this weekend, so results should start happening tomorrow!

Well, it looks like the winner of the Great Mimic Debate will have to wait until I get back from the trip, since I've just narrowed it down to 14 entries and I'm feeling completely exhausted and headache o_x However, I do have the results of the mimic draws! In the end, I decided to go with two winners from each draw, and I'll do the actual Sams and pets when I get back!

For the object mimic draw, the winners are Kagari (lawn gnome) and cassiadawn (sparkly rocket lava lamp)!

For the pet mimic draw, the winners are Pristine (ferret) and Slydogg121 (cat)!

Congrats to the winners! I'll be making these guys when we get back :D

I won't be taking my computer with me, so the April thread won't be up until about the 6th. See you then!

Congratulations to the winners of the Object Mimic Draw and the Pet Mimic Draw! :)

I can't wait to see the new Samanayrs and pets mimicked as these objects and animals! Hee, hee, lawn gnome ftw! Ooh, and a sparkly rocket lava lamp would be groovy! You can never go wrong with a cat for a catgryph, and a ferret would be adorable as the first ever mage construct! <3

Bon voyage, Sushi! Have a fun and safe trip!

Re: Mimicry Fantastica - the mimic events - random draw resu

Thank you to everyone for making the Mimicry Fantastic events so much fun! There were some awesome potential mimics, and I hope we'll still get to see some of them in the future :D

First we have the object mimics, Kagari's lawn gnome and cassiadawn's rocket lava lamp!
Image Image
Next we have the two pet mimics! Slydogg121's cat became a Catgryph, and Pristine's ferret became the first Mage Construct!
Image Image
Finally, the Great Mimic Debate ended up being a tie because I just couldn't decide between these two! This is narrowed down from a finalist list of 14 - it was very difficult to decide XD; Again, I hope we'll get to see some of the other animals as mimics someday!

First, here's Nightfeather's Deinonychus Antirrhopus mimic! I love the idea of a really brightly-colored intelligent dinosaur running around, and the additional bird images submitted were very inspiring. I based the coloration on the first bird image - I have no idea what it is, but I loved the colors!
Image
Second, here's Origami_Dragon's Townsend's Big-Eared Bat mimic! Bats are some pretty awesome critters, and it was the massive ears and round little bodies of these guys that sealed the deal. I also love the idea of these little guys running around on all fours!

Names and genders are up to you, just send me a PM with the name and gender that you'd like for your Sam :D

*squishes bat gently* I already said it on PI, but I love her! (And yes, decided that she's a she even though I was planning to think about it until tomorrow...) Most definitely love those gorgeous wings and giant ears! Thank you so much!

And congrats everyone! They're all adorable!

Doesn't Gremlin look just endearing! He characterizes the classic lawn gnome perfectly as a Samanayr! I'm able to see him sitting in someone's garden with no trouble at all.

Blast is a Samanayr who's out of this world! Being modelled partly after a rocket ship, he is posed as if he's blasting off, and his lines are all angular, yet he still retains an organic quality. He is also loudly-coloured with some sparkles to represent the "lava" of the lava lamp part of the object the stallion is mimicking. How groovy!

Slydogg's catgryph Mimi is lovely with such an attractive calico pattern, offset by those entrancing yellow eyes. And I was right when I said Pristine's mage construct Taz would be adorable!

Congratulations Nightfeathers! I was hoping the Deinonychus Antirrhopus could become one of the winners of the Great Mimic Debate when I first heard about it! The concept of a prehistoric brightly-coloured, intelligent dinosaur is awesome (and from what I have seen of all the entries, one-of-a-kind)! There is an intrinsic savagery which can be clearly seen, and the colors Sushi has chosen are superb, especially the way she's managed to weave them into each other. The fact that the Deinonychus Antirrhopus mimic is covered head-to-claw in feathers is quite appropriate, as scientists are now researching the possibility that dinosaurs may have originally been covered in feathers.

Congratulations to you too, Ori! I adore bats, they deserve more love and respect than they get! Bats in general are appealing creatures; however the Townsend's Big-Eared Bat is particularly cute and fuzzy! She has delightfully huge ears! Furthermore, I really like how Sushi coloured her wings; the texture looks properly leathery, and the bone structure is faultlessly aligned with the rest of her body.

I love how all of them have turned out! <3
