Preview - races!
I've been thinking about races for a while and trying to figure out how I could run something that's not entirely random, and yet not have to assign stats for each Samanayr who's participating, which would take forever XD And now I think I have it!
There will still be a big random element to races. Each course will be a certain number of spaces long, and each round a die, probably a d6, will be rolled to determine how far each Samanayr goes. First to the finish line wins!
However, these won't be clear courses - there will be obstacles that each Samanayr needs to get over, through, or around! When a Sam reaches one of these obstacles, a d20 will be rolled, and they'll need to hit a certain number or higher based on the difficulty of the obstacle.
And here's where physical traits and features come in! Each Samanayr will receive either a bonus or penalty for each obstacle roll based on their physical features. For example, if the obstacle was a large fallen branch that the Samanayrs needed to jump over, a Samanayr with very long legs would receive a roll bonus while a Samanayr with very short legs would receive a roll penalty.
The general terrain of the course will also have an affect on each Samanayr's general movement roll. For example, if the course is on a sandy beach, a Desert Samanayr or one with large hooves might receive a +1 bonus to their d6 movement roll, while all other Samanayrs would receive a -1 penalty for each movement roll.
There's going to be ground courses and air courses, but I don't think there's enough aquatic Sams for an aquatic course XD
I have no idea how this is going to work out, so I'm going to be running a few small races soon. Hopefully it'll be fun

I love this idea! Races are so much fun and it sounds like you've got a pretty sweet system figured out there.

lol This sounds great! ^^ And it's nice that all the random factors allow for a dark horse to still win. ^.~

Ooh, that does sound like a fun way to do races! Now I can hardly wait to see the first race up an running! So before long we'll see some trial races to work the kinks out? *lurks*

*wonders if there's any way a glass tail would help you out in a race...* XD And I agree with everyone else, this does sound like a fun system for racing; I can't wait to see you try it out!

I'm hoping it'll work out well, there's going to be a lot of dice rolling (although the computer will be doing most of that) XD If it does work out well, there's definitely going to be more races!
