So... I didn't want to post this right after the awesome news of Dap getting a puppy, but... I don't know. I wanted to post this? I'm not going to spam after this. XD
Today my 10 month kitten was hit by a car, and died from the trauma. She was dead when we found her, but still warm.
Her name was Macarena (All of my cats are named for dances) and her nickname was simply 'Rena'. She was bipolar. (No joke) She'd be purring some days, and ripping up my arm the next. And we always joked and called her "Devil Cat" and evil. But she wasn't. She was also a good cat. She'd come running up and hop up onto my lap. She'd frolic and and play with dandelions, and she had a meow that was more chirp, like a little bird. She'd run from shadows, attack imaginary friends, and chase the mail man into his truck (he humoured her, he loved her.)
I don't have many pictures on this computer, but the only one I have of her that's not blurry is with me last summer, so... lol. I don't look great, but I look way worse now.
I'm doing better, Dapples has been keeping me distracted. Not trying to steal Oliver Gun's thunder love, he's fantastic. XD

Re: RIP
Ah, my condolences Seren, it's never easy losing a friend and one that's so full of life will hold a place in your heart for a long time. Just remember the good times you had together, and know that no matter how long or short her life may have been that she was loved and treasured. *hugs*

Re: RIP
*hugs back* Ah...thanks amazon. That was really one of the nicest things I've heard today.
What was hardest was telling my younger sister the news and trying to explain to my brother that it wasn't his fault that she was out, that he couldn't control what happened.
Oddly enough, since her death, my other animals have been glued to my (and my sister's) sides. The cats who once fought with Rena now climb in our laps licking at our hands, the goats trail along behind my sister everywhere and won't touch the flowers she picks for Rena's grave, and the horses and dogs have been nuzzling me all afternoon.
But thank you, really, that was a lovely message.

Re: RIP
Its amazing how animals will respond to emotions, isn't it? Its like they know something is wrong and they're doing everything in their power to make it better
I actually had a similar thing happen years ago. I ended up writing a good bye letter to my kitten, and left it with his grave. Whenever something bad happens, my mind always seems to run in circles, caught up in "what if?" and "why?". I found the letter writing was a good way to help organize and express my emotions and it was very cathartic. I could get out my guilt and sorrow, but also thank him for the time we had together.
You might give it a try, just put pen to paper and see what comes out. You don't need to share the letter with anyone, its just between you and Rena.

Re: RIP
I think I'll give it a try. Whenever I lose an animal, in recent years, I've taken to writing poems. I really may do that... maybe I'll ask my siblings if they want to give it a try. They're 10 and 13, and it's the first animal death they've gone through where the animal was close to them.
They're going to paint rocks and plant flowers on her grave too. But I've been looking at kitten videos of her and remembering her. At least she didn't die as a few weeks old kitten alone on the streets.
Thanks amazon. Seriously. I really appreciate it. <3

Oh no, so sorry to hear that ;_; She sounds like quite the character and it sounds like she had a wonderful life with you. It's also great that you're helping your siblings to get through the situation, it's never easy to deal with a loss but the first one is definitely the toughest.

Thanks Sushi. It's gotten better, I've been cleaning up the flowerbed where she's buried and preparing to plant some flowers.
At least she didn't die a lonely little orphan kitten, and had a pretty nice life, even if it was short.
