Design a multi-stage foal! Traits edition

I didn't realize it'd already been a year since the first batch of growing foals went out O_O Where did the time go?!

I wanted to release some new multi-stage foals this month and I just finished updating the traits page, so how about an event that incorporates them both? :D

You can learn all about the multi-stage Sams in this post:

http://samanayrs.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1752

Your job is to design a foal that includes at least one trait that's severely underrepresented in the Samanayr population. We'll define that as a trait that 20 or fewer Samanayrs have, traits like Trunk and Encrusted.

Rules and info

- There is a limit of one entry per person.
- The design is for the foal stage only. We don't know how it'll look all grown up yet!
- The max rarity for species is 'uncommon.'
- The only traits that can't be used are 'unique' or species-restricted (unless the foal is that species). At least one of its traits must appear on 20 or fewer Samanayrs.
- There is a limit of three visible traits per foal, not including species-required traits (eg a Lamanayr could have three traits in addition to pure black eyes, head mane, tufted tail, and wings).
- Remember that not all traits can be shown on the foal stage, while others can change as they grow. If you're unsure about a trait please ask!
- The colors and markings shown on the foal will change somewhat as it grows. The colors it displays now will be present and probably dominant when it's an adult. Only large markings (eg socks, paint) appear on foals, and hair is usually just one color. Eye color does not change.
- Your entry can be written, drawn, or a combination of both.

There will be two randomly-chosen winners, and I'll pick a third winner based on the design!

To enter the draw, please send me a PM with the subject Ready to grow and the following form filled out:

Username:
Foal species:
Gender:
Traits:
Markings and colors:
Basic personality:
Would you be interested in growing your Sam or leaving it as a foal for a while?
Anything else?

This will be open until December 2, 11am PST - good luck :D

FYI, the previous growing foals are all frisky yearlings now!

Question- does a combo species, say a Northern Lam or some such thing have an increased species rarity for being a combo?

They probably should, but I didn't specify that on the species page, did I! I'd say they'd go up a rarity level from the most rare species in the combination, so a common-common combination would be uncommon and an uncommon-rare combo would be very rare.

Out of curiosity Sushi, what are Minayrs for species rarity? Because I noticed they aren't listed on the species page so I was confused XD

If we pick a combo species, does the max rarity for the combo have to be uncommon? Or could we pair a Mystic and a Lam, and get a combo rarity of rare, and use that?

Or if we pair a Mystic and a Northern, which would be combo rarity of rare, would that be okay too?

@SilverDapples - Oh yeah, I keep forgetting to add them! They're a rare species.

@LvSoulFriend - Since the maximum species rarity is uncommon, unfortunately most combinations aren't really a possibility for this contest. You could still have a Samanayr Mystic though!

Or a Lam Mystic? *eyes her spreadsheet*

Will have to continue plotting in the morning, though XD Bedtime!

Is it possible to create a hybrid has a custom? It's more for story purposes than anything else, just thinking that if the sam isn't the same speices as thier parent rp wise, they would have to be a hybrid?

@LvSoulFriend - Well, a Lamanayr Mystic would be rare (common + uncommon = rare).. I think the only combination that works with the rarity limitation is Samanayr Mystic!

@Echos - I'm not sure about hybrids, they usually just come about from bred Sams. It could be a Samanayr with the non-Samanayr traits from the other 'parent' if that would fit into the story?

It's no big deal, it really doesn't affect the story I had in mind. Just coming up with the story got me thinking about it.

Can we do animal mimics for this?

You can certainly have traits, markings, and colors that mimic an animal! 'Animal mimic' isn't really a trait all on its own, since it requires other traits for it to be applicable.

Good luck everyone! Can't wait to see what all little foals come around this time! I think I'll be sitting this event out, tempting though it is, since I already have one of the growing Sams. But I'm looking forwards to seeing what everyone comes up with! It'll be fun seeing some of the less common traits appearing on foals!

Same here, Ori. :3 Though if anyone happens to end up with a Northern, or a Sam that spends a lot of time in cold climates, Hunter would love to meet them. ;D

I'm with you LB!

Just real quick: Is it, foals get drawn certed and posted and that is when we find out who got them? (honestly I don't remember how the first growing sams went that's why I was asking XD)

Thank you to everyone who entered! I love seeing all of the ideas that you have for potential foals, and adding unusual traits to the mix just made it even more fun! This was another tricky contest to select winners for, but the design ones usually are XD; I'll learn one of these days! I had it narrowed down to 7 out of the total 21 entries for a while..
