In a small forest clearing a light dusting of snow has settled, just enough to make the scene appropriately picturesque but not enough to impede the tiny creatures that are assembling there. Piled in the middle of the clearing is a massive mound of gaudily wrapped boxes, some of which might appear to be shaking. Warden of the Desolate Tundra stands guard over the presents, her horns glinting in the winter sun to discourage any tampering or peaking.

In honor of the Holiday season, I will be running a White Elephant gift exchange. White Elephants are a popular party game, but of course we’re doing things a little differently on the forums. Sign-ups are open from now until Friday December 14 at 5:00 PM Pacific. Twelve players will be randomly selected from all the submitted forms. The game will start Saturday December 15 at 2:00 PM Pacific. Active participation is key so please only sign up if you will be available at this time. I will try my best to post a list of players soon after the deadline.

How the game will be played:

Before the game begins I will take a roll-call. If a player is not in attendance I’ll make the call for standby players to take their place.
The twelve players will be randomly numbered off and I will post the list of twelve wrapped presents. The first player has their choice of presents from the pile, but they don’t get to unwrap it yet.
Once a player has made their selection I will repost the list and successive players will have their choice of presents from the pile or they can steal a present from another player!
If a present is stolen from you, you can either steal from a different player (no steal-backs) or chose another present from the pile.
A warning though, the wrapping paper is delicate and may tear apart during theft! If this happens the thief receives the contents of the present, it cannot be stolen from them.
The game ends when all the presents from the pile have been selected. All the presents will open to reveal their contents!

The Presents!

Dark Red with an Indigo Bow One corner of this present is dented in slightly.

Pink with a Gold Bow This package sparkles and shimmers in the light.

Green with a Purple Bow A dollop of snow has landed on this package.

Yellow with a Dark Red Bow The bottom of this box has bowed out and it seems a little wobbly.

Blue with an Orange Bow The blue wrapping paper is speckled with tiny gray dots.

Purple with a Silver Bow This package is sitting towards the edge of the pile.

Gold with a Green Bow A sprig of mistletoe is tucked into the ribbon.

Orange with a Purple Bow The wrapping on this box appears hastily done, a few pieces of tape are partway off.

Indigo with a White Bow This package is balanced precariously against a tree root.

Pink with a Brown Bow The ribbon on this package appears to be quite silky.

Red with a Yellow Bow The Ribbon on this package curls elegantly.

Lime with a Blue Bow This vibrant package is nestled in the middle of the pile.

Another question- once a present has been stolen once, can it be stolen again? (By a different person?)

Also, if the present you had at first was stolen, then stolen AGAIN from the stealer, could you steal it back?

Sorry for the confusing questions. While I love White Elephant games, I'm not very good at them. XD

I'm happy to answer questions, everyone seems to have different versions so it is good to get it spelled out.

Present stealing can go and on (with an exception to be discussed below), there isn't a limit to the number of times you can steal or be stolen from. And the same present can be stolen over and over again.

You can't steal immediately from the person who stole from you, but you can steal from them later. Just not

Bob steals the Red box from Mary
Mary steals the Red box from Bob

There has to be at least one other person between

The exception to stealing is if a gift "rips open" (I'll be rolling dice for this, it's a low chance but it can happen). If a gift rips the thief gets that present permanently and can no longer steal or be stolen from.
