Samanayrs

With the return of the holiday season, we will also be seeing a return of the toboggan race! This time the race will be taking place on some hills just outside the Rainbow Hotsprings.

Toboggan Dash

This is a toboggan course, Samanayrs will be choosing sleds to race on. Samanayrs must stay on/in the toboggan while racing

There are 10 spots open for this race.



This race involves your Samanayr racing on a toboggan of choice. In your racing application you will choose 1 of the 3 available toboggans based on the stats of the toboggan.
Speed: How fast the toboggan can go once at top speed
      1 = roll of 2,3
      2 = roll of 3,4,5
      3 = roll of 5,6
Acceleration: How fast your toboggan reaches top speed
      1 = 3-4 turns
      2 = 1-2 turns
      3 = 0 turns
Maneuverability: How well you can avoid obstacles
      1 = x2 more difficult
      2 = normal difficulty
      3 = x2 less difficult
The race will still have the usual layout with obstacles. Currently, traits have no effect on tobogganing or the obstacles your Samanayr will come across on the race. If a racer gets stuck on an obstacle, the toboggan must accelerate once more to reach top speed.

These are the toboggans available to choose from:

Wooden Toboggan
Speed: 1
Acceleration: 3
Maneuverability: 2

Round Plastic Toboggan
Speed: 3
Acceleration: 2
Maneuverability: 1

Metal Ski Toboggan
Speed: 2
Acceleration: 1
Maneuverability: 3

So for example, a Samanayr on the round plastic toboggan would take 1-2 turns to reach top speed, and would then move forward with rolls of 5 or 6; however, when hitting an obstacle, the Samanayr would have 3x harder chance at getting past.



The holiday hairclips are back for this race! Winners will get to choose one of the three hairclips from the prize pool:
Snowflake hairclip: Offspring will have the glacies trait.
Reindeer hairclip: Offspring will have antlers.
Holly hairclip: Offspring will have florae trait, with sprigs of holly.

In addition, we have some of Lexington's Samanayrs who have offered themselves to those Samanayrs who are able to commandeer the slopes. The following three Samanayrs are available to the winners of the race:

Dasher
Gleam
Attacker

First place

- First pick from the Samanayrs(Dasher, Gleam, or Attacker)
- First pick from the hairclips(snowflake, reindeer, or holly)

Second place

- Second pick from the Samanayrs(Dasher, Gleam, or Attacker)
- Second pick from the hairclips(snowflake, reindeer, or holly)

Third place

- The Samanayr left over
- The hairclip left over

Rasa and I are going to see The Nutcracker ballet today, and it's a three and a half hour drive to the venue. So, we may not be home in time to participate. If not, good luck to everyone!

The Samanayrs' breath comes out in steamy clouds as the racers sit on their toboggans, ready to start the race as soon as the signal sounds.

Yay, we made it just in time. Go Quirk go!

As the race starts, the air is filled with the sound of scraping snow and ice.

*skids in* Whew! Made it just in time! Go, Deeeeeeliiiiiiigggggghhhhhhttttt!

As the race continues, some of our racers come across the next obstacle, startling a bunch of yearlings. Unaware of the race being scheduled, the young Samanayrs had been playing in the snow building jumps that are now getting in the way of our leaders.

Oh no! You can do it, Delight!

The Samanayrs watching in the audience cheer as the Samanayrs zoom down the hill.

Come on. Quirk, you can do it!

That's the ticket, Delight! Go! Go! Go!

Our next obstacle comes into view this round, a melted patch of snow stretching across the track. Perhaps a fire mystic was playing around in the area?

Oh no! Stuck again!

The grass proves to be a bit of a challenge for some of our racers.

Oh dear! Still stuck! You can do it! *cheers*

Our next obstacle, a patch of rocks, comes up this round.

*pets poor little Quirk* You can make it. Don't give up.

Rocks? That doesn't sound good.

Woo! Go Mystic!

The rocks seem to be catching a few of the racers off guard this round.
