I was hemming and hawing about whether to go to my Ultimate game last night since I'm just getting over a cold. I ended up going, but it turns out I should have stayed home because I ended up hurting my knee badly D: A trip to the emergency room later and nothing is broken but I need to be on crutches for a couple of weeks and no Ultimate for a long time. Sigh
OH NO!!! I'm so sorry you are in pain! That is no fun at all. I hope you get better quick. I have never broken a bone and i'm terrified to do so! So glad you didnt! They say the pain is ridiculous.
<3333 If we can do anything to help you feel better, let us know! <33333
Ouch, I feel your pain! Mostly cause I did that myself >> Landed on my knew, diving for the frisbee >> Was in a full-leg brace for several months! And crutches for a week >>
I wish they played it around where I live. None of my friends would play with me though, even if they did. Its so much fun!!!!
But, like sushi... you can get pretty hurt if you arent looking where you are going or if you knock into someone else. it can get kinda crazy if you have a lot of people.
Ultimate Frisbee is kind of like soccer but played with a disc, and no contact. It's a ton of fun! I'm not very good at it but really enjoy playing it, and it's a fantastic workout
What's really annoying is that nothing out of the ordinary happened, I was just going to do a cut (stop suddenly and run in the opposite direction), came down on my leg wrong, and pop D: I've had lots of other minor injuries from playing though, you can really go flying when someone a foot taller and much heavier than you accidentally runs into you XD;
I'm going to spend the day sulking and eating chocolate in bed but hoping to be able to hobble downstairs to get coloring again tomorrow. Stairs are a little tricky at the moment..
So it looks like I'm having knee surgery tomorrow! Not too major (the little incision with the camera and such) and hopefully recovery won't take too long after. I'm just glad I'm going to get fixed up, this has been a pretty crappy week...
I have had ACL surgery you will be fine sushi you are a tougher cookie then me. LOL Just do the excersizes and therapy and be golden. ^_^ I/WE believe in you!! ^_^
Good luck.
Yes make sure you do the exercises and therapy they tell you to do.
My grandma broke her shoulder last year and had surgery on it. She was too impatient and didn't leave her sling on long enough or do all her exercises and her shoulder isn't all the way healed correctly.
Hopefully you will have a quick recovery and you'll be back to playing Ultimate in no time.
Just know that we are always here if you needs us.
I managed to black out on my way to the bathroom this morning and have a big lump on my forehead now, so that was fun ;;; Feeling better now that I've been lying down and eating and drinking.
Although I realized last night that my next surgery is going to be when VancouFur is happening, so.. guess I'm not going.
Oh no- I hope the lump on your forehead has gone away by now! And I'm sorry to hear that you'll be missing VancouFur, especially when you had so many fantastic Sam cards finished already. Not that I think you'd have any problem selling them to the Sam community instead... *crooked grin* But still. Hopefully your next surgery and recovery will go absolutely fantastically to try to make up for it!
Oh sushi! that's not good. I'm so sorry you have to miss your event. Also, I hope you are feeling better. That's scary. I'm glad you are OK now. If there is anything I can do to help you, let me know!
Thanks everyone <3 I was pretty active before this happened so I haven't exactly been happy to become so sedentary, plus it's super hard to keep up with the kids and get them places (especially school, aaaagh), but we're managing. Since we'll have more warning before the next surgery my mom is probably going to come up for a few days after to help out. Mr Sushi has been amazing but can only take so much time off of work..
Saw the surgeon today and he wants me to work on strengthening my knee back up with physio before he does the next surgery, so it'll be in a couple of months instead of a couple of weeks. The good news is that means I can still go to VancouFur! This is also better timing because spring break is at the end of March and I didn't want to be freshly chopped up while looking after both kids all day for 2 weeks XD
