*wails and cries*

Sorry for the outburst, but I need to get things off my chest.

For starters, I went to college for 4 years. I haven't graduated yet with a degree or anything, I quit after a mental breakdown in my 8th semester. As such, I have a very had time finding jobs. I have a part-time job right now, I get ~90$ a month, after taxes and such.

My college loans start being due next month. It's looking like each payment will be ~70$. I have 6 payments per month. I have no way to pay off more than one a month, and the stupid company won't give me any hep either. Not without an account number, and I don't know that. Nor do I know my password or login ID for the site. The files that we supposedly had here at home have gone missing.

I've got no clue what to do, and things start being due in two weeks. Any advice is welcome, as are hugs. I've got an application ready to be sent out for a second job, but I have no clue if I'll get it, or how I'll manage two jobs.

And my parents can't help pay things off either. They're up to their ears in debt of their own as it is.

*needs hugs badly*

*hugs*

That completey sucks. I don't have any advice exept to keep bugging the company, see if you can't get hold of someone higher up who can help. Hopefully things will work out.

*Huggles* Im so sorry to hear that love, Just stick in there something will go better. Are you currently in school? or are you still out? what kind of a job do you have? Maybe you could get another or see if you can get more hours.

90$ a month does not seem like alot at all... Im guessing you dont get anyhours at all :(

*hugs alot* Im sorry hun, things will get better, the worst that could happen is you have to pay things off for a little longer. Just relax and try to come up with a game plan.

Thanks for the hugs guys. Ice cream helped me a bit too.

I get anywhere from 8-15 hours a week at work. And at 8$ an hour, it's not much. Lately, it's been in the 8-10 hours a week range. The company I did all of my loans with is Wachovia. Right now, I'm deeply unhappy with them. I don't think I qualify for deferment either :/

I really wish I hadn't gone to college in the first place, but my parents wanted me too. In hindsight, I should have stopped after two years, when I didn't like it any more. But it was either college or working, and I wasn't able to get a job then.

*goes to sell some of her PI accounts for some cash* Goodness knows I'm barely active on there right now.

I definitely understand what you mean by that, I just had my breakdown in my first year.

I don't know what it's like where you live, but around here fast food or grocery stores seem to be the best places to look for jobs. (I work in fast food myself, and we've recently hired about twenty new staff). I know those sorts of jobs aren't exactly ideal, but it's not too bad, and when it's all you can get, it's all you can get.

I work at a grocery store, in the bakery. Which is a lot of fun. I did full-time for two weeks, but then my shoulder gave out. Due to the amount they were asking me to lift (20-30 lbs of frozen breads >< ). So I'm back down to part time.

I've got an application for a fabric store ready to be dropped off tomorrow, once I get out of work. There's very little job market here, unfortunately >< Even with fast food stores or grocery stores.

LV, I actually work with a lot of debt at my job, especially with loans and credit card debt. That's just what I do as a CSR a a debt resolution company. I haven't worked on a lot of Wachovia accounts, but I can do my best to offer advice!

Is the Wachovia loan for school specifically, or is it a personal loan? I would give them a call and explain your situation - you completely intend to pay off the loan (or at least make payments on it), but with your current situation, you're unable to. They should be willing to set you up on some sort of new payment plan to ensure that you can pay. You can also ask to split the payments in half and pay twice per month, or ask for a restructured payment plan. They may ask for a hardship letter, which is just something you type up and sign that explains your situation. You usually mail or fax this to the company.

You said you had multiple loans - can you call Wachovia and see if they can be consolidated? If not, maybe you can sign up for a consolidation loan from a credit counseling company. Credit counseling companies can take one monthly payment from you and split it up amongst your creditors so that everybody's paid each month. Yes, it will probably take longer than you'd like, but I've seen a lot of success with this route. The counseling company contacts your creditors and lets them know what the plan of action is. Just be sure to read everything you're given and do your research before you decide to sign up with a company, if that's what you want to do.

You could also get a new loan from a different bank if your credit is good, and pay off all of your other Wachovia loans and then make payments on the one new loan? Talking to a loan officer might be a good idea, so they can set you up with what works best for you. If you have any questions, you can always PM me and I'd be happy to help as best I can.

I don't have any practical advice to offer, but I can give *hugs* Good luck with the job application, although it could be difficult to juggle two jobs I think the added income would definitely be worth it.

*bakes up some nice warm chocolate chip cookies for Lv*

That doesn't sound like fun at all! I don't really know much about loans to give any new advice.

This probably isn't a good idea since you didn't like college in the first place, but I've heard that if you were to take a part-time course, you are still considered a student, and could therefore get some extra time before you have to pay it off. I might be wrong though...

*gives some more hugs before running off to classes of my own*

I'm sorry dear, I have no experience on how to deal with financial stuff (leave that to the guidance of my mother and sister) but I'm sending good thoughts and prayers your way.

As a recent graduate from university I know the kind of stress you were under and that everyone deals with it differently. I was close to breaking down more than once. I also know that taking courses you aren't interested in makes it more likely that you will fail them.

As silvermoondragon said if you were to go back to school part-time you may be still considered a student and be given a break on paying it back. I would make sure that this is actually the case, as I am not sure about the US student loan laws/regulations. Going to school part-time would also give you the advantage of being under less stress and in the end still finishing your degree.

I would also recommend applying for every job you can think of, even if they haven't posted a job opening. Its gets your name out there and you'll never know unless you try. Working two jobs is difficult, but not impossible, and if you find something that pays better or gives more hours you can always quit one or both of the part time jobs.

Just my two cents, hopefully they are somewhat helpful.
