For those of you on PI, you already know a bit about what I'm going to say. A day or two before US Thanksgiving, my grandfather became really ill. He's had congestive heart failure for the past ten years, which has been taken care of with medication and a pacemaker. But recently, he's had kidney failure too, due to the medication for his heart. The day before Thanksgiving, it was determined that the best place for him to be was at home, with hospice care. He's got 24 hour care now, and my mom called earlier to let me know that he's got days left.

It's looking like my siblings and I will be heading down to Florida this weekend, possibly Friday or Thursday. My parents have been down there since Black Friday.

Just giving everyone a heads up as to why I haven't been talkative lately, and why I disappear, if I do. The last time a family member died was in 1997, and that was my mom's dad. Things are pretty rocky right now here.

I'm so very sorry to hear that. I offer greatest sympathies to you and your entire family. The death of a loved one is rough at even the 'best' of times, but arond the holiday season everything becomes particularly poignant as a traditionally happy time is tinged with sorrow. I wish you all the best, and you will be in my thoughts. *hugs*

Again, I'm very sorry to hear the news. I hope things go as well as they can for you and your family. It's a very tough situation to be in but I think it's good that you'll all be together for this.

I'm so sorry to hear that. It's not easy loosing family, especially with being so close to the holidays. Take care and know that all of us are with you during this difficult time in your life. <3

My dad called a few minutes ago, my granpa passed away at 12:10pm today. We'll be flying down tomorrow for the wake and funeral, and will be back Sunday.
