In the spirit of NaNoWriMo and to help Sushi with her NanoSamMo I am going to be running a Samanyr Mad Lib here in the forums. This is an officially sanctioned game with prizes to boot! But first the nitty gritty details.

If you’re not familiar with Mad Libs it’s a word based game, typically played at parties or on long car trips. There is a premade story or script with missing words and the object is for players to supply the missing words completing the story. The officiator keeps the story hidden, but prompts the players for the part of speech (such as “noun”, “verb” or “food”) needed to fill in the blank. An example could be as follows.

Her eyes shone like two noun plural, and her hair was as adjective as animal fur.

Since the players don’t have the context of the story, the results often ends up comical on nonsensical like

Her eyes shone like two frying pans, and her hair was as tart as boar fur.

Our forum based Mad Lib will be played like an insanity paced Frankensam, I will post a prompt and anyone who is playing can respond with an appropriate word. There is a Super Secret Grand Prize to be raffled off for all participants, and additional prizes of modiems and tradable items will available as well!

Rules
- The first reply after I post a prompt will be taken for the madlib.
- If your word is selected please wait at least three more rounds before trying again. This is to ensure as many people as possible get to play!
- For “Trait” prompts do not use unique or species-specific traits. You can see all of the traits on this page:http://samanayrs.com/traits.php

Just so we’re all on the same page, here are some of the terms which may be called out over the course of the Mad Lib with a short definition.

Noun: a noun is a word used to name a person, animal, place or thing; for example “puppy”, “tree”, “river”, “berry.” Do not use proper nouns like “Joe Montana” or “Central Park”.

Adjective: an adjective is a describing word, usually used to modify a noun. For examples of adjectives check out this site

Verb: a verb is the part of speech that conveys an action (bring, read, walk, learn) or a state of being (be, exist, stand). Don’t worry about the conjugation of the verb (run/runs/running/ran etc), I’ll put the verb in whatever form is needed to fit the Mad Lib.

Results!

Two samanayrs squealed into a small clearing, the elder a sparkly stallion, the younger a fluffy foal just on the brink of adulthood. The pair stood in excited silence for a while, until at last the elder spoke.

“Skunk of the Dancing Sa’krien my son, you are my sadness and joy, and always have been. From the day your mother brought you to me, a darting bundle of violet fur and horn nubs, I knew you would be something special. Now you are a Stallion grown, and ready to depart on your own adventures. But before you go, I wish to give you some advice.”

The elder Stallion cleared his throat with a splashing cough and continued, “Never fight needlessly; there is always someone with bigger tine wings than you. Bad weather is surely on its way when the sky turns as black as the fur on your muzzle. Never sprint where you flop, or you will regret it. Birds of a feather may flock together, but dogs lift in pairs. And when the time comes for you to leap down and start a song, your first mare will be your heart, but a second mare will wade glee.”

Also, this is the only event I've seen for a Sam so far... am I missing events? Are there some strictly for PI?

Pretty sure that'd be 5:00 for you Easterners, since you're three hours ahead of Pacific. :3

I haven't done Mad Libs in ages, my cousin, sister and I used to laugh so hard we'd cry. I still recall some of the more bizarre ones.

I love Mad Libs! I need a little bit of sleep first, though, so I hope I'll be back in time.

*taps jaw confusedly* I have the Sam forum set to Pacific time, and it says its 2 now... guess it didn't update with daylight savings? or else something's wrong with my computer. O.o anyway I'm excited! ^___^

Yeah, the forum doesn't automatically adjust itself for daylight savings. You have to go to the User Control Panel -> Board Preferences and check yes or no for "Summer Time/DST is in effect" to change it. One more hour...or 45 minutes I guess...
