Samanayrs - Traits

This is a near complete list of the different traits that a Samanayr can have, arranged by category and name. Some are species-specific, some are unique, and some are just really, really strange. For finer control, use the interactive list.

Also included on this page are features. They're not quite traits, but variations of normal Samanayr features, such as mane and tail hair styles. You're welcome to specify features when designing a custom.

Bat Ears Very Rare
	Large, sensitive ears that can swivel around to catch the quietest sounds.

Ear Silk Rare
	Silky hair falling from the back of the ears.

Earless Rare
	No ears at all.

Feather-tufted Ears Uncommon
	Small feathers growing from the tips of the ears.

Feline Ears Very Rare
	Triangular cat ears.

Fin Ears Rare
	Usually found on aquatics, these ears are finned.

Folded Ears Rare
	Ears that fold over about halfway up.

Furred Ears Very Rare
	Large ears with a long fur fringe around the outside.

Kirin Ears Rare
	Wide, flattened upright ears with a distinctive delicate point.

Large Ears Rare
	Though they still lie back, these ears are larger than normal.

Long Ears Uncommon
	Ears that are much longer than usual.

Lop Ears Rare
	Ears that flop down.

Rabbit Ears Very Rare
	Very long, upright ears.

Rounded Canine Ears Very Rare
	Thick canine ears with rounded tips.

Rounded Ears Rare
	Ears with rounded tips.

Rounded Feline Ears Rare
	Feline ears with a rounded top.

Upright Ears Common
	These ears face forward instead of lying back.

Wedge Canine Ears Rare
	Upright, wedged-shape canine ears, wider than typical Samanayr ears.

Conchae Very Rare
	One or more parts of the Samanayr is replaced with shells.

Florae Very Rare
	One of more parts of the Samanayr that would usually be covered with fur or hair is replaced with some form of flora, such as branches, leaves, grass, or moss.

Glacies Very Rare
	One or more parts of the Samanayr is replaced with ice.

Ignis Very Rare
	One of more parts of the Samanayr that would usually be covered with fur, hair, or feathers is replaced with flame.

Inorganic Very Rare
	A Samanayr made entirely of inorganic components, given life by magic.

Lapideus Very Rare
	One or more parts of the Samanayr is replaced with stone, metal, or minerals.

Spectral Ignis Very Rare
	One or more parts of the Samanayr emit ghostly flames that aren't entirely there.

Demon-touched Eyes Very Rare
	Glowing solid eyes with trailing luminescence.

Horizontal Pupil Very Rare
	A pupil that stretches horizontally across the eyes.

Multiple Eyes Very Rare
	More than the standard pair of eyes.

Pupiled Eyes Rare
	Eyes where the round pupil is visible.

Pure Black Eyes Common
	Rather than being colored, these eyes are pure black.

Slit-pupil Eyes Very Rare
	Eyes with a narrow, slit-like pupil.

Solid Eyes Rare
	Eyes that are a solid color (other than black), with no pupils or whites.

Clawed Paws Rare
	Usually with only one or two toes, these paws bear sharp claws.

Dainty Hooves Uncommon
	Dainty little hooves.

Fins Rare
	Fins in the place of regular hooves. Samanayrs with this trait cannot walk on land.

Flippers Rare
	Wedge-like flippers. Although most useful in the water they can also hold a Samanayr up on land.

Hooks Rare
	Unlike the Spikes, these feet are intended for clinging to and swinging from branches.

Large Hooves Uncommon
	Hooves that are larger than usual.

Long Hooves Rare
	Very long hooves.

Opposable Claws Very Rare
	Claws that sit opposite each other.

Opposable Hooves Rare
	Hooves that are split and separated in the front and back.

Paws Uncommon
	Padded paws in the place of cloven hooves.

Round Hooves Very Rare
	Hooves that are spherical and cannot be walked on easily.

Scythe Claws Rare
	Rear feet with clawed paws and a single large scythe-shaped claw.

Sharp Hooves Rare
	Hooves that are especially long and sharp.

Solid Hooves Uncommon
	No cloven here! Just big ol' cloppers.

Spikes Very Rare
	Curved, pointed spike-like hooves. Very difficult to walk on.

Splayed Feet Very Rare
	Large feet with splayed, hoof-tipped toes.

Talons Rare
	Smooth, sharp talons.

Tendril Fins Very Rare
	A variety of fin made of long, thin tendrils.

Tentacles Very Rare
	Octopus-like tentacles grow in place of the legs.

Triple Hooves Uncommon
	Triple hooves instead of the usual double hooves.

Webbed Paws Rare
	Dexterous webbed paws that also function well on land.

Tail Mane Very Rare
	A mane running down the spine of the tail.

Armor Very Rare
	A covering of armor, rather than fur and hair.

Back Mane Rare
	A mane that runs down the spine from head to tail. Restricted to Miseries and Mysteries.

Belly Mane Rare
	A mane that runs down the belly.

Chin Beard Uncommon
	A little beard growing from the chin.

Crimped Mane Rare
	A mane and tail with naturally crimped hair.

Curly Hair Uncommon
	Curly hair with body and bounce.

Equine Mane Common
	The typical horse-like mane. Does not need to be entered in the database.

Extensive Foot Tufts Uncommon
	These foot tufts are much longer than normal.

Feather Coat Very Rare
	A coat of feathers rather than fur.

Feather Crest Very Rare
	A 'mane' made of feathers, rather than hair.

Feather Mane Rare
	A full mane of feathers, rather than hair.

Feathered Tufts Rare
	Foot tufts made of feathers rather than hair.

Fin Mane Very Rare
	Fins in the place of a mane.

Fluffy Uncommon
	A very fluffy coat of fur.

Full Tufts Rare
	Foot tufts that grow long enough in the front to cover the feet.

Ginglymus Tufts Rare
	Small tufts of fur growing from behind the knees and ankles.

Hairless Rare
	No fur or hair at all!

Head Mane Common
	A mane that stops short of the neck.

Leather Skin Unique
	Velvet-soft leathery skin.

Leonine Mane (Mare) Uncommon
	The female equivalent of the leonine mane, it's limited to tufts of hair on the cheeks.

Leonine Mane (Stallion) Uncommon
	A lion-like mane that covers the entire neck. The female equivalent is limited to tufts of hair on the cheeks.

Longhair Very Rare
	A very long, silky coat. Restricted to Kodylas.

Mane Strand Very Rare
	A single long strand of hair growing from the back of the head. Restricted to Shifters.

Maneless Very Rare
	No mane.

Mystic Strands Uncommon
	A strand of long hair that grows from behind each ear. Restricted to Mystics and Mysteries.

Reduced Foot Tufts Uncommon
	Foot tufts that are shorter than usual.

Scaled Skin Very Rare
	Smooth, scaly skin rather than fur, similar to snake skin.

Stellar Crown Very Rare
	Long strands of hair, each tipped with a feather, growing from the head. Restricted to Sibyls.

Throat Mane Very Rare
	A mane that grows down the line of the throat rather than down the back of the neck. Restricted to Healers.

Tuftless Uncommon
	The absence of the fluffy foot tufts that all Samanayrs have.

Upright Hair Rare
	This mane and tail seem to defy gravity and stand straight up.

Velveted Fur Rare
	A coat that's similar to the Northern fluff, but shorter and more dense.

Bull Horns Very Rare
	Large, thick curving horns, like a bull's.

Double Horns Uncommon
	A pair of horns. Usually pointing back, sometimes pointing forwards.

Horn Nubs Uncommon
	Two tiny horn nubs.

Kirin Horn Very Rare
	A thick, split horn growing from the forehead.

Long Horns Rare
	An absurdly long and twisted pair of horns.

Multiple Horns Rare
	Three or more horns on the head overall. Can grow in various directions.

Nose Horn Rare
	A horn growing on the nose.

Ram Horns Rare
	A pair of horns that twist around from behind the ears.

Single Horn Uncommon
	A single horn, usually pointing forwards, sometimes pointing backwards.

Thick Horns Very Rare
	A thick pair of horns which grow from behind the ears.

Unicorn Horn Very Rare
	A single spiral horn growing from the forehead.

Albino Very Rare
	These Samanayrs have pure white hair and fur, and bright red eyes.

Animal Mimic Rare
	A Samanayr with traits, markings, and colors that mimic an animal.

Antennae Very Rare
	A pair of antennae, sensitive to sound and movement.

Back Fin Rare
	One or more fins growing from the back. Not related to Miseries.

Beak Very Rare
	A beak in place of the usual mouth.

Belly Plate Very Rare
	Thick overlapping scales that run down the throat and belly.

Bioluminescence Very Rare
	A natural glow coming from various parts of the Samanayr.

Biped Very Rare
	Samanayrs with this trait have only two legs. Can be front or rear legs.

Bipedular Very Rare
	Bipedular Samanayrs walk on their hind legs, rather than all fours.

Body Spines Rare
	Sharp spines that grow from various points on the body.

Bone Crown Rare
	A sturdy bone dome on the head surrounded by spikes. Design by Aranea

Bone Mask Rare
	A bony mask covering the face and head.

Bony Crest Rare
	A bony protrusion growing from the back of the head. Can be short or long. Design by Origami_Dragon

Cheek Feathers Rare
	Feathers growing from the backs of the cheeks.

Encrusted Very Rare
	Barnacles growing on the Samanayr's skin. Can only be on water-based Sams.

Fancy Feathers Rare
	One or more very extravagant feathers sprouting from various places on the body.

Fangs Uncommon
	Long, pointed incisors.

Flexible Spines Rare
	Spines that are more flexible than usual.

Furred Antennae Rare
	A fluffy pair of antennae.

Gems Very Rare
	Gems that grow right through the Samanayr's skin.

Gills Rare
	Gills that allow the Samanayr to breathe underwater. May or may not be able to breathe air as well.

Hooked Snout Very Rare
	A hard-edged snout with a pointed hook. Similar to a beak but can be scaled or furred.

Integrated Very Rare
	Parts of the Samanayr have been replaced with an inorganic material.

Kirin Scales Rare
	Scales that are rounded and separate from each other, like pebbles.

Mini Very Rare
	Though these Samanayrs appear to be the size of foals, they are fully grown, and just teeny tiny.

Multiple Legs Very Rare
	More than the usual two pairs of legs.

Object Mimic Very Rare
	A Samanayr with traits, markings, and colors that mimic an inanimate object.

Perennial Growth Very Rare
	A small tree growing out of the head. It grows over time and changes with the seasons.

Poison Spurs Rare
	Sharp spurs that carry a small amount of poison.

Pudgy Rare
	Sams with this trait are extra roly-poly with stubby legs and other features. Design by Pristine

Saber Teeth Rare
	Very long and pointy canine teeth.

Scales Very Rare
	Small scales that cover portions of the body.

Trunk Very Rare
	A trunk in place of the nose.

Tusks Rare
	Long, curving teeth protruding from the mouth.

Whiskers Very Rare
	Thick whiskers that sprout from the snout.

Bob Tail Uncommon
	A very short, stubby tail.

Combination Tail Rare
	Two types of tail combined, such as tufted and feathered.

Curled Tail Very Rare
	A canine tail that curls up over the back.

Draconic Tail Rare
	A long, flexible hairless tail, sometimes tipped with a wedge.

Equine Tail Common
	The typical horse-like tail. Does not need to be entered in the database.

Extravagant Tail Rare
	A particularly long and extravagant equine tail.

Fan Tail Rare
	A dragon-like tail with spines and membranes that can be fanned out to assist in flight.

Feathered Tail Rare
	A bird-like feathered tail.

Feline Tail Rare
	A long furred tail, often lashed when the Sam is annoyed or angry.

Finned Tail Very Rare
	A thick tail with fins.

Multiple Tails Very Rare
	More than one tail.

Otter Tail Rare
	A long, thick tail useful for swimming in the water.

Phoenix Tail Very Rare
	A feathered tail with two trailing feathers.

Poison Tail Very Rare
	A thin, flexible tail tipped with a poison spur. Usually carried curled over the back.

Prehensile Tail Very Rare
	A sturdy and flexible tail that can wrap around and pick up things.

Tadpole Tail Rare
	A tail resembling a tadpole's.

Tailless Very Rare
	No tail at all!

Tufted Tail Common
	A tail with a tuft of hair on the end.

Wolf Tail Very Rare
	A wolf-like tail.

Abbreviated Wings Very Rare
	Not quite complete vestigial wings, abbreviated wings are ornamental features in the place of where the wings would be. For example, a cluster of feathers rather than feathered wings.

Ankle Wings Rare
	Small wings growing from the ankles.

Bone Wings Very Rare
	Wings that have been partially removed, exposing the bone underneath. Any foals will inherit the original wing type.

Butterfly Wings Rare
	Though delicate, these wings can somehow bear the Samanayr in flight.

Combination Wings Rare
	Wings that are a combination of more than one type (ie, draconic and faery).

Double Wings Rare
	Two pairs of wings.

Draconic Wings Common
	Your typical bat-like draconic wings.

Faery Wings Common
	Your typical faery, dragonfly-inspired wings.

Fairytale Wings Very Rare
	Large, elaborate, ornamental butterfly-fairy-type wings. Design by RikkuGirl

Feathered Wings Common
	Your typical feathered wings.

Fin Wings Rare
	Usually found on Aquatics, these wings are membrane stretched over spines growing out from the sides.

Flipper Wings Rare
	Wings that are flippers.

Giant Wings Very Rare
	Wings that are much larger than usual.

Head Wings Very Rare
	A pair of decorative wings growing from the head.

Leg Wings Very Rare
	I think this is pretty self-explanatory, going by the image (not to mention creepy).

Long Wings Very Rare
	Wings that are quite a bit longer than normal.

Poison Wings Very Rare
	Poison Tail-like appendages that sprout from the shoulders.

Posterior Wings Very Rare
	Wings growing from the Samanayr's posterior.

Seraphim Very Rare

Spectral Wings Very Rare
	Ghostly wings that aren't entirely there. Not capable of flight.

Spike Wings Unique
	These wings are membranes supported by spikes, and grow in as the Sam ages.

Tail Wings Very Rare
	Wings that grow from the tail.

Tentacle Wings Very Rare
	Tentacles where wings would normally go.

Tines Rare
	These wings are missing the usual draconic wing membrane, and cannot be used for flight.

Vestigial Wings Rare
	Tiny wings, for decoration rather than flight.

Wing Claws Very Rare
	Claws that appear on the Samanayr's wings.

Wing Pennants Rare
	A single very long trailing feather/wing membrane on each wing. Design by Janalee

Wrap-around Wings Very Rare
	Wings where the flight surfaces wrap around the Samanayr's back and tail.

Wyvern Rare
